Server Problems

getting so error messages from the forum - likely to be at glens end since I'm getting the error messsage back - if it were in between I don't reckon I would get the message

Yup..aswell as access denied....you do not have permission etc...also cannot find server.....getting sick of it!..each time i reply it takes 5/10 mins of me backing up and trying again before it goes through.Ive rebooted..scanned the ruddy works..

Aye been running slower and slower for a while now. Needs to make sure he's backed up the board (should be done daily really with gzip compression to make sure all is safe) defrag the server, then delete and re-initialise the mysql database from the backup copy. They get a bit clogged up sometimes and need refreshing.

yes I was beginning to think it was me - I've being clearing cookies etc, but my 5.7mBit connection at home on both computers and pda has been having problems as well as the 10meg connection at school

Yes, it has got slower. If I watch my cable modem I can see a delay in replies from the forum server. I was wondering if NTL was playing up again...

page loading is very slow here

If he's running this off his own server at home (which it seems to be judging by the path of the php server side file above) then uptime is really good. Speed and connectivity problems could be being caused by a local IP network problem at his end too though. Shall have to randomly ping the forum to see what results are.

I dont think he is running it at home.

If you had this on your own server you probably wouldnt create a directory called GTEUK.

 

Other reasons for believing this is hosted somewhere else are that the IP address for the forum returns a lookup of

 

*******-******.net

 

This board is being run on a machine with the following spec

 

Windows 2003 Server/PHP/MySQL/IIS

*******-******.net relates to a hosting company which is in Gloucester. Name Servers for the site (which are strangely owned by Glen also?) point here with their A record.

 

Definately needs a reboot of the server and a refresh of the mysql database to sort it properly though. (and thats probably enough info about the site (albeit in the public domain) to be posting on a public forum!) :blink:

I do believe amongst other business activities Glen also used to provide server space etc and infrastructure hence the interest in such a diverse activity from flooring.
